There is a winter weather advisory in effect from Raleigh to the east which will most likely affect our northeastern counties in North Carolina until 7pm.

ABC11 Meteorologist Don “Big Weather” Schwenneker says this feature will track far enough to the north to bring the Triangle and most of central North Carolina a bit of light snow and flurries this morning into this afternoon.

Some places could pick up a coating of snow, while others see some sleet/freezing rain mix in before it moves off to the northeast later today.

In precaution some schools are delayed or closed today.  Here is a list:

Edgecombe Co. Schools (Edgecombe) – Closed.

Franklin County Schools (Franklin) – 2 Hour Delay.

Halifax County Schools (Halifax) – Closed

Nash-Rocky Mount Schools (Nash) – Closed.

Wayne County Public Schools (Wayne) – Closed Friday.

Weldon City Schools (Halifax) – No Classes-Optional Teacher Workday.

Wilson County Schools (Wilson) – Closed Friday.

Hertford County Schools (Hertford) – Closed

Northampton County Schools – Closed.

Check ABC11 for more schools, daycare’s and businesses.
