The dedication of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum paved the way for a full day of revisionist history during which the 43rd president got to bask in White America’s nostalgic longing for power.

More hilarious than positioning him as a great American president, Bush 43 had the audacity to shed tears when remembering Hurricane Katrina — the colossal storm that decimated the Gulf Coast.

Former President George W. Bush openly wept while talking about some of the biggest disasters of his tenure at the dedication of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum on Thursday.

At the conclusion of his speech, Bush mentioned “the people of New Orleans who made homemade boats to rescue their neighbors during the floods” caused by Hurricane Katrina and “the servicemembers who laid down their lives to keep our country safe” during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

“I dedicate this library with an unshakable faith in the future of our country,” he said. “It was the honor of a lifetime to lead a country as brave and as noble as the United States.”

At that point, the 43rd president began to get choked up.

“Whatever challenges come before us, I will always believe our nation’s best days lie ahead,” Bush concluded, struggling to add, “God bless.”

Maybe he thinks Black America has forgotten how he flew over New Orleans in a helicopter while people begged for their lives from rooftops. Or maybe he thinks Black America doesn’t realize that New Orleans is still struggling to rebuild. Or maybe he thinks that Black America has forgotten that his mother-in-law, Barbara Bush, said that being forced to relocate to Texas might have been a good thing for some of the evacuees.

Maybe he thinks that the entire nation has forgotten that those service people lost their lives in wars entered into based on his administration’s lies.

But we haven’t forgotten.

And he can shed as many fake tears as he wants to, we never will.
