Since his transfer to a Los Angeles facility from a Nevada hospital earlier this week, Odom’s family released a statement claiming the former NBA player was able to walk on his own for a short time. Odom has apparently made a complete turnaround from his status last week. After he was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel, Odom awoke from a coma last Friday.
He reportedly took cocaine before his three-day stay and also ingested ten herbal supplement pills.
In the statement, his family thanked fans for their prayers and encouraged more for the 35-year-old.
“As Lamar begins a new chapter in his road to recovery, PLEASE continue to uplift him and the family in prayer,” his aunt JaNean Mercer and the Odom family said. “He continues to make miraculous progress, taking a few steps in Los Angeles. We couldn’t be more overjoyed! We realize Lamar’s continued improvement will not be easy, however his unrelenting strength and faith in GOD will pull him through.”
Jim Harrick, Odom’s college coach, told reporters the athlete’s estranged wife Khloe Kardashian has been by his side during his recovery.
TMZ reports that Odom isn’t out of the woods just yet. He underwent two surgeries since his L.A. hospital stay, wearing down his mental state.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Kardashian and Odom called off their pending divorce.
