Yesterday, he held his “Rally 4 Peace” concert in the city and the day before that, he released a song that was inspired by Freddie Gray and the unrest that took place in Maryland. The song, which was dubbed “Baltimore,” used the Freddie Gray incident as a lens to delve into the larger societal issues at hand concerning police brutality. “Does anybody hear us pray for Michael Brown and Freddie Gray?” sings Prince. President Obama Calls Moms on Mother’s Day
Many mothers received phone calls from their children wishing them a Happy Mother’s Day yesterday, but three moms got the surprise of a lifetime; they picked up the phone and President Barack Obama was on the line. According to a White House official, President Obama individually called three moms to wish them a Happy Mother’s Day. The women, who were from Florida, Minnesota, and Arizona, all penned letters to the President throughout the year. “I know how tough it is to raise kids and do right by them, and if it hadn’t been for my mother, I certainly wouldn’t be here,” said President Obama during one of the calls. “You are doing the most important work there is.” Read more.

While Bobbi Kristina remains in an Atlanta hospital fighting for her life, there has been a decision made regarding who will serve as the 22-year-old’s guardian. It was recently reported that her father, Bobby Brown, and her grandmother, Pat Houston, have been named as her co-guardians. “Mr. Brown and Ms. Houston are jointly responsible for decisions related to Krissi’s care and medical needs,” read a statement from both of their lawyers. San Francisco Police Department in Hot Water for Text Scandal
A San Francisco police department is in hot water after it was discovered that officers wrote and exchanged racist and homophobic text messages. The messages have led many people to wonder whether or not they’re a sign there was bias implemented in the arrests the officers have made in the past.
