PARENTS… today is the first of 3 public meetings giving parents and the community a chance to ask about the newly proposed student assignments for the Wake County Public School system.

Wake County has announced the school make-up days for the January 11 closure: Traditional – Feb. 22 Modified – Mar. 15 Wake Early College – April 1 Year-Round – Jan. 15 source: wtvd.com

Those are among the potentially unpopular ideas school board members said need to be considered to help offset the prospect of severe budget cuts next year. Board asking for your ideas!

The Wake County school assignment debate will be the conversation again today with two meeting scheduled about the topic.

The final vote on whether to establish a community based school policy and do away with a diversity policy is on tap in today’s meeting. 

Rev. Barber, President of the N.C. chapter of NAACP announced a mass meeting over the diversity debate in Wake County Schools. 

Wake County Schools have posted new school reassignments and posted them on the county’s website. 

At the request of the Governor, the state Department of Public Instruction is expected to reduce state funding for all school systems by 3 percent for the next school year.
