PARENTS… today is the first of 3 public meetings giving parents and the community a chance to ask about the newly proposed student assignments for the Wake County Public School system.

Last year the Wake County School board voted to change the long standing policy of socio-economic diversity in Wake County school assignments for students and now Superintendent Tony Tata proposes two new plans.  Superintendent Tata released a blue and green plan that will help students achieve their maximum academics while keeping them closer to home.

These plans are open for public comment starting today until June 12th.  The chosen plan would take effect for the 2012-2013 year.

Meetings are schedule for today at Enloe High School, Millbrook Magnet High School and Athens Drive High School at 6pm.

If you are unable to attend a meeting today, two other meetings are scheduled for:

  • Wednesday, June 1st at Panther Creed High School &
  •  Thursday June 2nd at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School, Garner Magnet high School, Sanderson high School, Cary High School and Holly Springs High School.
