Tonight’s episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta focused mostly on Kenya and Matt’s relationship drama, and Kandi and Phaedra’s friendship falling out again.
The episode opens on a light note, with Porsha babysitting Phaedra’s two boys. The idea is that it would be good practice since Porsha wants kids. They ran Porsha ragged, but she actually did a good job. That shouldn’t be a surprise, since she’s pretty much a big kid herself.
Cynthia officially found her new home. It’s the lake house she was looking at a couple of episodes ago. This is a big deal because Cynthia wasn’t really trying to stay in the home she shared with Peter so, cheers to her for pushing forward and getting her new chapter started.
It’s looking like Phaedra and Kandi are going to come to a head and have yet another falling out. In this moment, we see two simultaneously alternating scenes featuring Kandi chatting with her Kandi Koated crew about how Phaedra is full of it and can’t get her stories straight, and Phaedra says she wants to chat with Kandi about Mama Joyce talking smack about her. In summary, they just need to stop trying to make this friendship happen.
Porsha invited her potential sperm donor, Todd, to dinner with her mom, sister and brother. As expected, they gave him the third degree. Todd has a 14 and 16-year-old already, but Porsha’s sister brought up a good point: Would he want to start over after having older children? He said he would under the right circumstances, and then he surprised us all by grabbing Porsha’s hand and, kissing her and telling her loved her. This took her by surprise, because you know she was making it seem like their situation was just an arrangement since they have a history and are on good terms. However, she seemed into the idea of being in love with him so this might actually be legit.
Kenya got her dad involved with her Matt drama. He got concerned when he stopped by Moore Manor and saw the windows Matt kicked out of her garage door. Later on, they planned to meet up with Matt at a cigar lounge, but Matt decided not to show up. Kenya’s father got on the phone with him to see what was up and Matt basically said that he was tired of being manipulated and that he doesn’t mean any disrespect, and that Kenya needs to get on the phone and talk to him. She got on the phone, and when she informed him that he was being disrespectful he hung up. He finally showed up, at least an hour later, which is quite disrespectful for someone who claims they’re not trying to be disrespectful.
Kenya’s dad remained remarkably calm while trying to talk since into Matt and generally be the mediator between Matt and Kenya’s conversation, but that didn’t work. Matt and Kenya’s talk just went circular, with the two of them talking about who is disrespecting who, and how their communication sucks, yatta yatta. It went nowhere, but Kenya says they are done, for real, for real this time.
And now we enter the main event—Phaedra and Kandi’s big meeting. This is the umpteenth time they’re meeting about feeling some type of way. It was awkward from jump (as expected). Phaedra mentioned that Mama Joyce’s mom made things uncomfortable for her. Kandi defended her mom (as always), saying that her mom didn’t bring anything up that wasn’t in the news. Kandi brought up how Phaedra makes shady comments about she and her family behind her back (specifically noting the whole Todd digging in the couch for coins remark). Phaedra said that the shade isn’t one-sided and that they take jabs at each other. They ended their conversation by wishing each other well, in a shady Southern Belle kinda way. Basically, they ended on a nice-nasty note, still don’t like each other and will probably continue to exchange shade. The only real resolution here is for them to just not be friends and leave it that way.
