Well, that didn’t last long. The director of a West Virginia federally funded non-profit who was temporarily suspended for calling Michelle Obama an “ape in heels” just got her position back, according to The Huffington Post.

Pamela Ramsey, director of Clay County Development Corp., was removed from her post after writing the following status message on her Facebook account: “It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House. I’m tired of seeing a Ape in heels.”

The Charleston-Gazette Mail reports Ramsey will head back to work on December 23, according to a letter the outlet received from the organization’s acting director, Leslie McGlothin.

The post also received commentary from Clay Mayor Beverly Whaling, who wrote, “Just made my day Pam.”

Both women incredulously claimed their comments were not meant to be offensive and issued half-hearted apologies after Ramsey’s post went viral.

A petition calling for Ramsey’s permanent dismissal received over 196,000 signatures. Guess that still wasn’t enough to convince her superiors that she’s unfit for the job.
