Last night was the coldest night of the season and the Durham rescue mission made sure no one was left out in the cold.  The Durham Rescue Mission launched “Operation Rescue: Warm Shelter,”  and sent out four crews with hot coffee and pastries to gather people off the streets and invite them to the shelter for a warm meal, clean clothes and a place to sleep.

The shelter is always open to those who have pledged to make life changes but it was open to everyone last night.

Other missions also had a “white flag night” to signify a warm, safe place to stay for the night.
