Colin Powell is a republican and was the first African American Secretary of State, serving under former President George W. Bush, and is now sounding off about his own party’s bias.

Powell tells “Meet the Press” that some “former governors” are guilty of using racist statements when referring to President Barack Obama.  He points out former Alaska Governor and VP candidate Sarah Palin for describing Pres. Obama as “shuckin’ and jivin'” when it came to the attacks in Benghazi.  Powell says, “that’s a racial-era slave term.”

He also brought up another former governor.

Mr. Powell also refers to the reaction that some of his party members had when he endorsed President Obama as being an endorsement because of race.  Powell says is unfortunate that some still base their position of being a Republican on race.
