The new Wake N.C. State STEM Early College is not slated to open until August 2011 but the recruiting process is under way for students interested in science, technology, engineering and math. Admission will be capped at 50 students per grade level and priority is given to first-generation collegegoers as well as women and minorities. The STEM high school is a five-year program where students will be able to graduate with a high school degree and about two years worth of college credits at N.C. State.
