Due to the recession, the town of Clayton has cancelled their Fouth of July celebration this year. The town usually celebrates the occasion with fireworks at the Municipal Park, but diminishing revenue has caused them to cancel previous events.
The one day event costs the town more than $30,000 and 20,000 is just for the fireworks.
Kenly has also cancelled their communities event due to regulations on fireworks.
