6 Time Gospel Music Stellar Award Nominee, James Johnson, is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. Reared in the church, as the son of a Pastor, he was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, having graduated from the Baltimore School for the Arts and studied at the Peabody Conservatory.
James most humble beginnings began in the field of music production, songwriting and arranging. It was through this passion where he has produced, performed, recorded and written for several artist including Bill Cosby, Alvin Slaughter, Maurette Brown-Clark, Stephen Hurd,
Mark Gross, Michael Austin, Doreen Vail, Bishop Rudolph McKissick and a host of other notable musicians and entertainers.
In June 2011, James worked along with his Pastor to write and produce the Church’s first music album entitled “Indeed”, featuring the Music Ministry of the Cedar Street Baptist Church of God.
James has also worked along with Grammy Nominated and Stellar Award Winning Artist Troy Sneed and produced two of his most recent albums; “All Is Well” and “Awesome God”, of which he produced three billboard top 10 gospel hits from the “All Is Well” album. James most recent work can also be heard as the producer and songwriter of the Arkansas Gospel Mass Choir latest album, which features the hit song “You Alone”, co-written with award winning songwriter Michael McDowell which earned him his Stellar Nods and BMI Songwriters Recognition.
In February 2016, James released his anointed and inspiring debut single and EP titled “AGREE”. The release of his debut album is scheduled to release later this fall. James’ favorite Scripture is Deuteronomy 28:2, “And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee…” This is what the Lord has done.
James is married to Synethia Johnson and they share as the proud parents of James Edward III, and Jada Elise.
