A week after the shooting death of Akiel Denkins the community gathers to talk about solutions to local crime and police relations.

Minister Diana Powell of Revelation Missionary Baptist Church on South Davie Street tells those who gathered for a meeting in the church’s basement, “Guess what, it is our problem!”     Min. Powell organizes weekly gatherings here to confront issues of black on black crime and gang violence.

Local clergy, a Wake County District Court judge, and an ex-gang member were all apart of the meeting and sitting at the head table. They came for what Powell billed as “real talk” about what ails the neighborhood.
