Downed power lines and trees were reported throughout central NC during the powerful storms that moved through the area leaving many without power this morning.
Residents across the viewing area experienced strong winds, and hail that triggered tornado warnings and widespread reports of damage across the Triangle. In all, there were more than 20 tornado warnings for the Triangle area.
Officials from the National Weather Service are expected to assess the damage later today to determine if tornadoes were to blame and what their intensity was.
Duke energy is working to repair downed power lines and restore all power to those affected.
