North Carolina State University kicked off their Vet’s Day recognition this morning with a vigil at their Bell Tower before sunrise while University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will observe with two ceremonies this afternoon.

Other events include:

The annual Armistice/Veterans Day 5k run will be held in Spring Lake from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

In Wake County, the Town of Cary will hold its Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. A Cary resident and World War II Veteran will be the guest speaker. The event takes place at Veterans Freedom Park on North Harrison Avenue.

Durham Veterans Services will hold an event at the county health and human services building at 11 a.m.

At Fort Bragg, the USO of North Carolina center will partner with Feed the Children to provide food and other household essentials to 800 families in need from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m, at the Fort Bragg Soldier Support Center.
