TBR/Petersburg, VA – The Virginia State University Gospel Choral held their annual Gospel Extravaganza Homecoming concert on Sunday. This year’s special guests included Jessie Staton and New Era, “Sunday Best” Season 8 Runner-Up Zebulon Ellis and the Virginia State University Gospel Chorale.

Opening up the evening was Jessie Station and New Era who were truly amazing with tight harmonies and a powerful sound with only six singers including Joseph “JoJo” Clark.

Zebulon Ellis followed their performance with a breathtaking performance that included his re-arrangement while playing the keyboard to “I Shall Wear a Crown.” He was simply awesome.

The final performance for the evening was delivered by the Virginia State University Gospel Chorale who opened with a Gospel take on “Uptown Funk, featuring Bruno Mars.” It was filled with high energy and crazy moves that also included the infamous VSUGC hand clap. The crowd could not get enough as their Music Director Perry Evans kept the evening moving with upbeat songs and teaching moments that connected each song and ministered.

Sheilah Belle, “The Belle” served as the concerts Mistress of Ceremony.
