Grammy-nominated singer Ledisi appeared on “NewsOne Now” with Roland Martin to talk about her role as Mahalia Jackson in the MLK biopic, “Selma.” Ledisi told Martin that even though she has a small part in “Selma,” “it is such an honor to be a part of it.” “Selma” is slated to premiere in theaters Friday, January 9th, 2015 with a limited release on Christmas Day.

Johnny Gill joined the conversation during the second part of the segment to discuss the Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Softball and Golf  Challenge where according to Martin, Gill pulled a muscle running to first base.

Martin said, “everything was fine” the first time Gill stepped up to the plate, but during his second at bat, the injury occured.

“He hit the ball and took off for first base and about the first 1o feet, it was good.” Martin continued, “But then that age crept in. He was running and the next thing you know … he was grabbing right back here. Johnny didn’t grab his hamstring, he grabbed his butt.”

Martin then exclaimed, “Johnny pulled a butt muscle!”

Gill refuted Martin’s claim saying, “No I didn’t, it was a hamstring.”

The debate over exactly what happened will probably continue to rage on, but either way the story is hilarious. Check out Martin and Johnny Gill discuss the softball muscle pull in the clip above.
