TBR — Chesapeake, VA — Southeastern Virginia Arts Association “SEVAA” a thirty one year organization is founder of one of the largest festivals on the East Coast known as AFR’AM Festival.
During the weekend the SEVAA celebrated the achievements of forty Men in the Arts with a luncheon and awards show from Southeastern Virginia.
Each of the honorees received medallions that congratulated them in perspective fields along with a congratulatory plaque and star studded trophy.
Minister of Music and Gospel recording artist Earl Bynum was recognized for his achievements in several categories, including Gospel music, Radio and Music Education. Other notables that received awards were; GMWA Board of Director member Dr. Sylvester Starks, Adoni Music founder – Ike Owens, WHOV Station Manager – Jay Lang, Executive Producer of TV Reality Show SWV Reunited – Corey Taylor, and Pastor/Song Writer – Cedric Rouson.
The event was the first for the organization that honored Men in the Arts in Southeastern Virginia. The final award was presented by SEVAA Board of Directors and staff to Earl Bynum as Man of the Year. In receiving the award, Bynum, “I am thankful to be recognized as Man of the Year, but mostly honored to be able to share this moment with 40 great men in the arts from Southeastern Virginia.”
