As a creative adaptation of Solomon’s wisdom (taken directly from Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, and Proverbs), The Song speaks forthrightly about the bliss, weaknesses, hardships, and steadfast loyalty that often accompany marriage. Like the contemplative writings of King Solomon, the film doesn’t pull any punches. Its occasional voice-over narration of Bible passages brings complexity to the story, and Solomon’s inner struggles come to life on the screen.
Jed, a musician living in the shadow of his country music star father, meets the girl of his dreams at a small gig in a local vineyard. After the two marry, Jed writes a song that becomes an instant hit. But Jed’s success might just become his demise. Before long, his demanding career and a surprisingly tempting co-performer take him farther and farther from home, both in body and soul.
