Los Angeles, CA — On Saturday, Gospel recording artist James Fortune touched down in Los Angeles for the Grammy Awards. Like hundreds of other artists from all genres vying for top awards, Fortune said, the experience was powerful and he was simply blessed to be there.  Upon departure from the airport, Fortune gave his thousands of Tweeter followers a behind the scenes view of what was taking place as he saw it through his Social Cam. @MrJamesFortune

Along the way, he ran into Lecrae during a Grammy Nominee luncheon and he received a Medallion, made by Tiffany for his Grammy Nomination. Just to be nominated is huge and the Gospel Community is proud of him.

Meanwhile, with presentations and performances from David Alan Grier, Tyrese Gibson and Elle Varner, the 55th Annual Grammy Awards pre-telecast took place at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live Sunday, Feb. 10 in Los Angeles.

Leading the pack of Gospel Music Awards was Matt Redman with wins including Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance and Best Contemporary Christian Music Song for “10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord).”

The latter of the two awards, Best Contemporary Christian Music Song, was shared with Israel Houghton in a surprising tie. Houghton accepted the award on stage with Redman for “Your Presence Is Heaven.”

Gospel singing duo and reality TV stars Mary Mary won Best Gospel Song for “Go Get It,” the lead single from their greatest hits collection.

While Tina was not present to accept, Erica Campbell and her husband/producer, Warryn Campbell, accepted the award. Thanking fans and the group’s manager, Mitch, Erica and Warryn said Tina was at home.

Christian hip-hop artist Lecrae won Best Gospel album for “Gravity” and Toby Mac picked up Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for “Eye On It.”

As for Fortune he said, “I didn’t win this year and there could only be one winner!  But just being nominated is such a blessing!”
