Most of the traditional schools began a new year today,  except one in Roanoke Rapids because of the continue to clean up after a mass flash flood on Saturday.

It’s still unclear how many homes and business were damaged, but many are not finding much help from their insurance companies.  Back in 2005 may received letters stating that their dranaige problem was corrected and they no longer needed to carry flood insurance.

Today many hope they will be eligible for emergency assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
