Since the phone service changed 4 months ago, requiring everyone to dial their are code before dialing the phone number, many with the area code of 919 have been misdialed as 911.
Officials ask that if you make a mistake and dial 911, please stay on the line and let the operator know that it was a mistake. Otherwise, operators will call you back and eventually an officer will be dispatched to that location to make sure there is no emergency.
It’s simple just say, “my mistake.”
