I remember hearing the sad news of a worker at the Circus restaurant being shot and killed while cleaning – A random victim. Now they serve Thanksgiving dinner to those in need in memory of LeRoy Jerningan.

It’s been 5 years since the 40 year old father of two was killed and Thanksgiving dinners have been served at the Circus Restaurant since then.  Now it has grown into one of the largest in Raleigh.  Circus owner Glenn Mitchell plans to cook more than two dozen 20 pound turkeys, with seet potatoes, mashed potatoes and green beens to more than 1,000 people.

Meal that don’t get eaten he will deliver to hospital waiting rooms, bus stations and homes of the lonely shut-ins.

Mitchell says he just “wanted to turn something bad into something good.”
