The state Department of Transportation has began a review of railroad crossings in N.C. after two major incidents in less than a month. On Dec. 10th a train hit a car in Durham, killing two brothers Calvin Brandon and Hassan Bringham and yesterday a similiar crash claimed the lives of Erin Brett Lindsay-Calkins and her 5 year old son Nicholas. Officials will look into the “short-throat” or the closeness of the crossings to the travel lanes.
