For years the American Cancer Society has stressed breast self exams and routine mammograms beginning at the age of 40 but now…. A government task force says that most women don’t need mammograms in their 40’s and should get one every two years starting at 50. This study is far different from what the American Cancer Society has been teaching for years. The panel also says that breast self exams are no good and women shouldn’t be taught to do them. This new study raises concerns for many who have either caught their cancer through self exam or have been diagnosed with breast cancer in their 40’s.
