Nearly 6 million people are expected to fly over the Fourth of July holiday—a record-breaking number—according to AAA. At Raleigh-Durham International Airport alone, nearly 600 flights are scheduled to depart during the holiday period.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is offering travel incentives, including a $25 discount on TSA PreCheck enrollment for military spouses and active service members, and a waived fee for Gold Star families.
AAA reports a 1.6% increase in air travel this Independence Day compared to last year. To avoid delays and stress, travelers are urged to arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure and to download their airline’s app for real-time updates.
This summer, the average cost of a domestic roundtrip flight is $810—about 4% more than last year. To save money, experts recommend booking early and flying on less busy travel days.
