Former CIA director and retired Army Gen. David Petraeus is scheduled to speak at Duke University today about national security issues. Petraeus’s will also participate in a a question-and-answer session. The event is sponsored by several Duke organizations and the Triangle Institute for Security Studies.

Gov. Pat McCrory’s approval numbers continue to drop as voters indicate they are not happy with a Republican-controlled state government. The latest survey from Public Policy Polling showed McCrory has a 35 percent approval rating, four points down from August, when it was at 39 percent.
