About Face Charlotte will unveil its Wall of Compassion at the historic Grace AME Church April 27 from 6-9pm as part of the Uptown Crawl.  Abput Face Charlotte’s mission is to share the stories of some of the 147,989 people living in poverty in Mecklenburg County. Their website says, “To give voice to the voiceless. To show the face of the 147,989. And to share the stories of those that serve. To inspire us all to step beyond ourselves and into a more compassionate way of being. Stories that connect people to people, and help us all remember to care for each other.

The Wall of Compassion was created from over 2,000 Blessing Boxes and symbolizes over 200,000  acts of kindness by the community. Blessing boxes were distributed in the Charlotte area, and are each filled with notes of 100 acts of kindness bestowed. Businesses, schools, places of worship, governmental agencies and individuals embraced the project and spread  blessings through the area.   The Wall of Compassion helps demonstrate that a community can come together in a short time, and work on a project for the greater good.  Grace AME Church is located at  219 South Brevard Street in Charlotte.
