Gospel artist and radio personality Darlene McCoy stopped by The Light 103.9 to chat with host Melissa Wade about her new house music single “Don’t Worry,” her return to recording and the faith that carried her through a breast cancer journey.

McCoy said the upbeat single blends Christian house music with a message meant to lift listeners across generations.

“I’m just into the house music vibes lately,” McCoy said. “It makes me feel good because it’s so upbeat. And the biggest thing is the message.”

That message, she explained, comes straight from Scripture.

“I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread. So don’t worry,” McCoy said.

She encouraged parents, especially mothers of adult children, to trust that God covers their families.

“When there is a covenant that you have with God, it covers your seed.”

McCoy started her career as an artist in 2005 and 2006 before stepping into radio.

Now she is sharpening her chops and returning to the stage. Wade, who called her “one of the hardest working women in the industry,” praised the single after seeing her perform it live with Canton Jones at the Stellar Awards.

Reflecting on her breast cancer journey, McCoy said healing gave her fresh perspective.

“When you get to the other side of a journey like that and look back, in hindsight it’s 20/20,” she said. “God has a timeline and he has a schedule for all of our deliverance, for all of our breakthroughs. So we don’t have any business worrying.”
