On Sunday our community lost an angel on earth – Dr. Sharon Elliott-Bynum.  Dr. Elliott-Bynum was the executive director of CAARE Inc., Durham’s first free comprehensive health care clinic. Dr. Bynum passed away at the age of 58 after a battle with lung cancer.   Dr. Bynum and her late sister Pat founded the company back in 1995 and when her sister passed away Dr. Bynum continued the vision.

With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the unbearable loss to the family of Dr. Sharon Elliott-Bynum, Healing with CAARE staff and the Durham community.  Dr. Bynum, Executive Director, transitioned to the heavens on Sunday, January 3, 2016.   The family and staff of Healing with CAARE would like to thank each individual and organization that sent your prayers, love and support during this difficult time.

Sharon is holding her coveted Spectacular Magazine 2014 Woman of the Year Award. She was Spectacular Magazine Health Editor from 2005 until 2014.
