To support community efforts

Dear Friend,
With so much going on in Durham, I thought it important to touch base with you regarding a concern that directly affects our community. Perhaps you have heard of CAARE, this is a nonprofit organization working in downtown Durham. CAARE has been existence for over 15 years. Their primary concerns are to address the five health disparities; cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and HIV/AIDS. This is the only facility of its kind providing this service in the state of North Carolina and recently visited by Surgeon General of the United States.
Recently CAARE requested funding from Durham County to continue this service. This request is in jeopardy of not receiving funding which directly affects the disenfranchised and medically challenged. Is it possible that individuals who make this decision do not understand how important this service is to our community?
Perhaps they believe the overall community doesn’t care or that we are not paying attention. Let’s pull to together to assist this organization and by doing this we are helping ourselves.
