 Every Monday afternoon at 3:25 pm Gerald Owens gives a quick recap of the weekends big news stories and a heads up on what’s coming up in the WRAL TV-5 evening news.   

Owens a 20 year television veteran started his career in 1993, as a reporter trainee at WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C. and began working at WRAL TV-5 in 2002.

Today Owens recapped the following:

  • The big crash yesterday on I40 that shutdown the west bound lanes for several hours. The person driving in the east bound lane fell a sleep and crossed over the medium into the west bound lane hitting a car head on. One person died in the accident.   
  • Local Police in FranklinCounty broke up a major theft ring.  A property in Youngsville was used for a large scale chop shop. Fourteen stolen trucks were recovered in the bust.
  • Big wins for TriangleareaCollege basketball teams. 

Tonight will talk about:

  • An emotional day in t he court room for a NashCounty family of a State Trooper who was killed in the line of duty.
  • The big snow storm expected to hit the Triangle Tuesday.
