WRAL TV 5 Gerald Owens gave us aquick recap of the weekends big news stories and a heads up on what’s coming up in the WRAL TV-5 evening news.   

Owens a 20 year television veteran started his career in 1993, as a reporter trainee at WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C. and began working at WRAL TV-5 in 2002.

Today Owens recapped the following.

  • Jonathan Michael Jones is charged with intentional child abuse inflicting serious injury after his son was found unresponsive in their Smithfield home on Friday.
  • A 17 year old teenager is in critical condition after a weekend crash on hwy 39 in JohnstonCounty. 
  • Hundreds of customers lost their power this weekend after a car hit a utility poll in Chapel Hill. 
  • The Tar Heel’s break Belk Bowl losing streak over the weekend. 
  • Tonight Gerald will talk about the new Census numbers that just came out and what they mean to our state.
