 Every Monday afternoon Owens gives a quick recap of the weekends big news stories and a heads up on what’s coming up in the WRAL TV-5 evening news.   

Owens a 20 year television veteran started his career in 1993, as a reporter trainee at WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C. and began working at WRAL TV-5 in 2002.

Today Owens recapped stories about the derailed New York City commuter train, the former retired Durham police officer who was in jail accused of killing his wife died on Friday, Duke Football team’s historic season. 

Owens also gave a preview of what’s coming up in the evening news. Tonight they will talk about the indictment of the former chairman of the Department of African and Afro-American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, more than 40 new laws took effect on Sunday, Dec. 1, most dealing with criminal offenses and punishments and WRAL’s holiday tradition of lighting up the WRAL tower with 3000 lights.
