State Rep. Larry Womble (D-Forsyth) was in critical condition early Saturday after he was involved in a car crash in Winston-Salem that killed another driver.
Winston-Salem police said David Allen Carmichael, 54, died at the scene when his 1996 Chrysler collided head-on with a 2010 Acura being driven by the 70-year-old Womble. The accident happened around 11:00 pm Friday on Reynolds Park Road.
The representative is being treated at Baptist Medical Center.
Police had not determined which driver was in the wrong.
Womble has represented Forsyth County in the General Assembly since 1995.
