Earlier today Judge Ripley Rand ruled the release of two convicted murderers who were sentenced in the 1970’s under an old law that defined life sentence as 80 years with the option of recieving good behavior credits. The order would have released Alford Jones and Faye Brown by 5pm today. Governor Perdue was furious over the ruling and said she was doing everything in her power to keep that from happening. This afternoon the state Court of Appeals halted their release saying that the state law prohibits felons serving life sentences to recieve good behavior credits.
