Another North Carolina inmate who contends that he has acquired enough good behavior credits to complete his life sentence is taking his claims to court. Convicted murderer Alford Jones is scheduled to go before a judge in Wayne County on sometime this morning. Jones is one of more than two dozen inmates who state officials had prepared for release after the courts determined their “life” sentences under a 1970s law were only 80 years long. As you may remember Gov. Bev Perdue blocked the release of the inmates, arguing that they should have never received those credits.
