Health officials warn of Zika Virus after reports show mosquitoes have spread the virus to 30 states which more than doubles the 12 that was reported previously.

Dr. Anne Schuchat, Principal Deputy Director of the CDC and Prevention, told reporters that the range of the Aedes mosquito species which can spread the virus is far larger than previously thought and the disease’s effects are more damaging than initial medical studies suggested.

Dr. Schuchat warns women who are pregnant or may become pregnant saying, the virus is “linked to a broader set of complications in pregnancy.”
