The State of North Carolina is proud of Charlotte native Stephen Curry for his play on the court as well as the way he carries himself off the court. Saturday the NBA MVP was named the AP Male Athlete of Year.
In a vote by editors from the United States and news directors Curry finished first. The results were announced Saturday. Withe the honor Curry now joins Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and LeBron James as the only basketball players to win the honor in the awards 85 year history.
Curry had more votes than American Pharoah who became the first horse to win the Triple Crown since 1978 and golfer Jordan Spieth who won two majors.
