My mother’s favorite go-to chicken and dumplings were the only thing on my mind this weekend and here’s the recipe so you can warm up from the inside out.

Cook Time: 50 minutes

Ready In: 1 hour and 5 minutes

Yields: 6 servings

1 (2 pound) chicken, cut into 8 pieces

1 large onion, chopped

2 stalks celery, washed and chopped

1 clove garlic, minced

2 bay leaves

2 chicken bouillon cubes

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1/4 cup water

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Dumplings:

2 cups self-rising flour

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup ice cold water
