Candidates were supposed to go head to head Thursday evening for a spot on the Wake County School Board, but only one showed up. Candidate Matt Scruggs was not able to attend the event in Garner due to a scheduling conflict. Scruggs’ absence meant it was just Monika Johnson-Hostler at the podium for what turned into a question and answer session between her and the few dozen who were in attendance.
