Beazer homeowners in North Carolina may be entitled to a refund. Beazer Homes USA entered into a deferred prosecution agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s office after admitting to mortgage fraud and predatory lending. The settlement applies to homes bought between 2000 and 2007. According to the agreement, homeowners are only eligible to receive money in two instances. Beazer provided down payment assistance to homeowners, only to turn around and increase the price of the house for that same amount to recoup their cost. The settlement did not require Beazer Homes to notify affected homeowners.
