Gladys Knight’s Chicken & Waffles restaurants in Georgia were closed by the Department of Revenue because Shanga Hankerson, Gladys’ son was being sought for tax evasion.
State agents claim Hankerson stole more than $650,000 in sales and tax withholdings. Hankerson was released yesterday on a $20,000 bond according to online inmate records.
All three restaurants were closed yesterday in hopes that they will reopen soon.
