A glitch has been discovered in Apple’s software can cause iPhones to suddenly crash after they receive a specific text message.  According to several tech blogs the text contains a certain string of characters, including some Arabic characters.

When an iPhone isn’t being used it will usually show a shortened version of any text message sent to your phone while on the phone’s lock screen.  The shortened combination of characters is what apparently triggers the crash.

Phones that have been affected by the virus will restart automatically.  As a prevention method iPhone users are urged to turn off the message “previews” feature in their settings.  Apple is aware of the problem and is working on resolving the issue.

However while this issue is being fixed beware of those who are sharing the information about the glitch on social media and using it as a way to crash other peoples phones.
