It’s been 14 days since the federal government partially shut down, and three days to go before we hit the debt ceiling. So, where do we stand? Nowhere. The Senate met yesterday afternoon, with Majority Leader Harry Reid saying he would do “everything I can throughout the day” to reach some kind of bargain with Republicans. But after a four-hour powwow, nada. The Senate meets again at 2 today. Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine says this hoopla has dragged on far too long, but she believes there’s going to be a resolution “this week.” Hope is a wonderful thing. Hope + action = even better!
