“Mega Moral Monday,” is what protester called the assembly against the Republican-led General Assembly yesterday.
The protest was held in front of the state legislature building and was the fifth and largest demonstration planned by the state chapter of the NAACP and other civil rights groups to object what they call a regressive agenda that neglects the poor.
During the protest of about 1,000 demonstrators, 150 people were arrested and released this morning around 5am.
The lawmakers of the General assembly says none of this will sway their minds. Republican State Senator Thom Goolsby says, “We are keeping our promises to voters, and that is what we are doing,”…. “The Democrats totally bankrupted our state and we were trying to fix it.”
