Can’t say we didn’t see this coming, with the increase in technology and students spending more time in the computer labs the need for cursive writing is “no longer needed.”
The loop to loop requirement of cursive writing is no longer a requirement in NC schools and the decision whether to teach it at all will be left up to the local school systems.
Some people feel like it will be a lost art and that some students may lose out on further developing their cognitive skills. But most instructors say they have to prepare students for further education which emphasizes on computer keyboard skills instead of cursive writing.
