The agency reported this morning that it has more 99,000 refund checks, totaling $153.3 million, that it has been unable to deliver. The average value of those individual checks is $1,547. In Wake County, 269 people didn’t get checks. In Durham, it was 133.
Once you find your name, go to the Where’s my Refund tool on the IRS site to check the status. If you don’t have Internet access, call 1-800-829-1954.
You’ll need to know your Social Security number, filing status and the refund amount that was shown on your tax return to check the status. Once you provide that data and your current information, your check should be in the mail.
