A federal investigation and student reassignment were among the hot topics Tuesday night at the Wake County School Board.
At least one member acknowledged the U.S. Department of Education is beginning an investigation into the school system in response to an NAACP complaint accusing Wake Schools of racial bias in student assignment and discipline.
At the meeting Tuesday, there were also several people in the audience with signs opposing resegregation and calling for equal opportunity for all students.
